Cadets are not just about marching and flying, there are many different optional training teams, which allow cadets to explore their interests. This includes Marksmanship, Biathlon, Rocketry, Outdoors, and Effective Speaking. Effective Speaking 2IC Sgt Liu, Aniya, talks about the importance of optional training clubs and Effective Speaking.
“Effective Speaking is the first optional training I joined in cadets, and has helped me improve my public speaking skills drastically. Being in a group of cadets who are all inclined to learn the same things as you is helpful as you are no longer scared to fail, knowing the people around you are thinking the same thing. Optional training allows cadets to discover their own interests and practice them in a group they are familiar with.”
